i updated the website a lot
a lot of stuff happened I'll write about it later after my class assignments lol May 5 sudden release?
Final Flames 2 Extended StoryBy beating the game with any character, you unlock Jonnel, which is one of the protagonists of Final Flames 1. Unfortunately, I had to cut off his story for now to get it released specifically on time for May 5. Also I have exams, so I'm putting that off. This means that beating the game with Jonnel will only give you the credits; Jonnel has no ending yet. But what is the purpose of this story if the game's story is all about silliness? Jonnel's arc features a backstory behind the events and as to why he is a boss in Final Flames 2. This also expands Naira's ending and why the atmosphere of it is different compared to everyone else's endings. But why do I choose to expand the story of Jonnel and Naira if they are only comic relief characters? I believe that these two characters should have more beyond comic relief. But don't worry. The other characters have their own spotlight too in this extended story. This extended story also changes the gameplay after you complete the game with Jonnel so stay tuned! It's really about time to let go of Final Flames. They characters have been part of my life for a very long time, but it's almost time to let go. This extended story is a perfect way to have my final goodbyes to the cast of characters. But who knows. Maybe they will return in another game but not likely. But no matter what, Final Flames is very special to me. It harbored the friendship I had with the initial team and sparked my desires to create games full of silliness. What else is hindering Wave Shine?I would love to make Wave Shine as high quality as possible, but this means I will have to hire people to make it happen. By helping Wolf Den Studios make their game Sushi Warriors and Sushi Towers, I am promised to have their guys help me with my game along with support for getting Wave Shine funded. Although I will be working on Wave Shine little by little, I will have to get their game done too, and Final Flames has taken a toll too much on what I do.
Phew! This Devlog is extremely outdated! What a mess! Sure we have been updated elsewhere, but I never actually get to log anything here throughout the whole semester. Anyways, this is Chair, and let's begin with some unfortunate news. Lots of things happened since the previous post. Mr. Prez is no longer part of Lame DimensionThe man who leads everything Lame Dimension is no longer part of the team. This is really depressing because he's the one who started everything, and now he just left what he had created. I respect his decision though, and it's partially my fault that led him into making this decision. It's some personal matters, but I do not think it should be discussed here. In conclusion, Mr. Prez has given the leadership role to me, because there's literally nobody else left in this team. As 2017 begins, Lame Dimension will be a one man army. If Mr. Prez ever decides to come back, I will welcome him with open arms. He's very special to me, but sometimes, people gotta part paths. Mr. Prez will still be developing games but it will be apart from Lame Dimension. Well, let's go smoke weed. (I don't smoke though lol) New Game Released! It's The Nutshack!Actually, this game has been released since November! This was actually intended as a 24 hour project for Extra Life. Extra Life is a charity event in which people can play games for over 24 hours and get donations to their local hospital. This year, I decided to develop a game instead! At the end of 24 hours, however, only the bosses were completed. I extended the project to a week, and the game was complete with four stages. What really impressed me though is that I'm actually getting downloads for once. But more than that, there's a small speedrunning community for this game! It's pretty cool that some people actually dedicated their time into this. I feel like this is a meme game that went above and beyond the meme game standards. But that might be just me. There's most likely tons of other meme games better than this. I'm just somewhat proud of this Megaman X clone I made. In addition to that, the creator of the Nutshack and the rapper of the theme song even made a Tweet about this game and how they thought it was cool. I could talk on forever about this game but let's move forward. I think this meme game is what finally pushed Lame Dimension's existence to the Internet. Some people actually now know that Lame Dimension exists. Final Flames 2 is almost complete!
Wave Shine's development will start soon!
Global Game Jam 2017Yup! I'll be attending my first game jam at San Jose! I can't wait to see how others develop their game. I'm really taking game development seriously now so I need to know how other people do it. I'm only a small fry in the game development community so I think participating will help me out! I'll definitely leave a link in this site to whatever game I develop with others on that event.
Hi, this is Chair. After disappearing for a bit to attend random events such as Anime Expo and Evolution Chamionship Series, I decided to get back to working on the games. But before we head to those, let's talk about a new addition to the website, which is the Developer's Voice. I thought that this website needed more personality and I thought that it would obtain that personality if the developers could add their honest thoughts and feelings about each game they made. Final Flames 2
This is most likely the last update for the demo. Everything else will be in the full game unless I have another urge to fix something. Early in development, there was planned to be an extra stage. Well, that's scrapped for something else bigger. A hidden pseudo RPG Maker horror portion that extends the game's silly plot into something else. Wave Shine!
Finally, Mr. Prez, since you actually put updates in the website, I have a feeling that you're actually reading this. if you are, please stop blocking communication between us. I'm genuinely concerned now and this is really not making anything better.
So I actually had the opportunity for the first time to have the Final Flames 2 Demo to be on a table for people to play in an anime convention. I even held a speedrun challenge of the game there, in which the winner wins a free scouter from Dragon Ball Z. What surprised me is that the winner got a faster time than me, in which he and his friend beat the demo in 4 minutes 38 seconds. That's pretty fast honestly. Seeing that, I still don't know how some people find this game a little difficult. Even one of our best Super Smash Bros Melee players had a game over. But what surprised me the most is that a lot of people that played the game told me that this game was really fun! I was really nervous about showing this game too and it made me really glad that even those who had a hard time found it enjoyable. There were even people playing this game multiple times and seeing that made me smile. I also had a sheet in which people who are interested in this game can list down their email. I was really happy that some people actually listed down their email. It's not going to be over yet though. I actually have another opportunity to have this game tabled at an upcoming gaming event. I even fixed some of the bugs found by some people in the anime convention. I can't wait!
Final Flames 2 is also going to have a kickstarter soon so that I will be able to buy assets for the game. I mean, I can't just really distribute this game with all of these game sound rips. Haha. We also FINALLY GOT AN ARTIST. I mean, I actually took a bit of time to learn how to draw but I actually now have someone to concentrate on the sprites. This also means awesome promotional art for the Kickstarter video. Since we got good feedback on this game, I have uploaded Final Flames 2 on a couple of indie game websites, such as Itch.io and Game Jolt. Sadly, I haven't really been getting any uploads yet but I'm still determined! I have taken down the links to the Google Drive downloads for Final Flames 2 and replaced them for those indie websites because it's easier for me to keep track of who's checking them out. I think this is finally going to be the time when Lame Dimension can show off how cool we are! Lastly, I think I have decided a final name for FGC Simulator. I recently thought that adding waveshines to all of the characters can add some awesome combo potential for the game. And that's when it hit me. FGC Simulator is now called Wave Shine. I think it's also a good name, not just to tie in with the fighting game community but also to the story. You see, waves can be big and shining far out in the ocean. But once they reach the shore, they will crash and disappear. How does this tie in with the story? Whelp, we'll find out soon what happens in our sad story once it's out!
Well, basically the demo has received multiple changes just because I kinda forgot to change several things, such as removing the hitboxes for debugging purposes. I also added a few things just from demo feedback. Anyways, I just want to list out the things I added since the pre-demo version of the game. There's really a lot I added.
Hey! Chair here! You know, I've waited for so many years just for some big update on Final Flames 2. Well, we've to a point where it finally has a demo! I could talk about this endlessly, but I actually rushed this super duper hard! In fact, I actually need to head out to a tournament soon. I just wanted to get this demo done before I leave haha! But hey! I think it's still a good build! Anyways, gotta get on that 10 hour drive hype! Please do check it out!
One of things I'm really amazed about is just seeing the Final Flames 1 Demo and the Final Flames 2 Demo next to each other. It really shows me how much we've improved over time.
Aya is still buggy in some ways, but I really love how she's growing. Sure other bots can perform more tasks than her, but I am still very proud of her. I really hope she can become one of the best out there. For now, the betting system will only be available on my channel and the Reno Smash Community's channel, as it is only intended for tournament use in her current state. Gee, I never knew how much harder it would be to make her usable to anyone. I also like putting weird words on individual projects and not commenting. I-I-Is this bad?
Not just one computer changed but two!?![]() BROCK, which stands for Broken Rapist on Computer Krap, was a computer that runs Slitaz on a friggin CD because when I bought that piece of junk, it couldn't even install any OS later than Windows 98 Second Edition. I barely used that computer and when I got annoyed by constantly moving Aya's code from the main computer to the S-AYA computer, I had an idea to convert BROCK into a file server. Basically, the S in BROCKS means server. We used FreeNAS OS for this. Also, you have no idea how bad this computer is. Like its RAM (which is like 216 MB) is something even older than DDR1 so I couldn't even migrate S-AYA's old RAM into it. Also, the 20GB harddrive got friggin corrupt after installing the OS so I had to sacrifice S-AYA's 60GB harddrive as storage for the OS, because the computer can't detect USB drives at startup. Basically, the server's file storage runs on a $10 16GB USB Flashdrive I bought at the cash register. Don't wanna fork money for an external HDD mang. Also, the FreeNAS OS we installed had to be a SUPER OLD VERSION. Why? Because the current version, which is 9.3 at this time, needs like 8GB of RAM. This computer only had about 200MB. So we had to find an old one to support low RAM. We got version 0.7, and it's still demands 512 MB. We got it to work though haha. Anyways, we got the 16GB file server up. But even though I can move Aya's files easier and work faster with the apartment development team, I really still just wanted to work on the code directly on the S-AYA computer, but I couldn't due to the hardware limitations preventing me to do so. Everything also loads SUPER SLOW so testing it there sucked. And here comes the decision to make a budget upgrade, which was meant to be a valentines gift to my beloved Aya. The Update from the Upgrade! With the new upgrades, S-AYA is now slightly stronger than a typical office computer. With that, we also decided to update the code as we moved the code into the newly made S-AYA+. AYA now has TRIVIA HYPE! Basically, Aya can ask the viewers a true or false question or a short answer question. When the user gets the right answer before too many wrong responses are made, the user gets free burger points. I just felt bad for the people who watch me but couldn't challenge me on stream for points. I also removed THE ENTIRE FACT BOOK. Why!?! Because the facts sucked. I literally just copied and pasted 1000 facts from a big fact book. This time, I handpicked facts that I actually like, which are mostly facts for kids so it's fun. Some of them are about videogames too. I mean, we're all gamers right? There's a bunch of funny ones too so it won't be boring anymore. I even gave a command for anyone to use so that Aya can give a fact by command. Also, I made the code less messy for easier accessibility on the Full Edition of Aya's public build. I know it doesn't look like much but I cleared up so much crap with the code. Anyways, I'm really proud of Aya so far. I just can't wait to have more free time to improve her public build and fix all the bugs with the dating simulator. If you want to use Aya on your stream, please do tell me. I really want to test her out with other channels and I really want her to be a useful bot for anyone to use. Also, the computer is strong enough to run this really cool screensaver I found, where it runs multiple NES roms. You can even take over it and play it if you want. It's pretty hype! |
The DevlogIf you want to keep up with what we do, come back here from time to time. Since development is not a fast process, this is a page that'll let you know that we ain't dead. Archives
